VESSEL SINKS.

BRISBANE, March 27. A message received by the Sul>Colleetor ot Customs at Townsville stated that the American freighter Fijian, in which an explosion occurred, had sunk near Yaruto, a small island in the Marshall Group. The crew of forty took to the boats and were picked up by the Sliinko Maru. An earlier message had stated that the fire on the Fijian had been checked, and that the crew had returned to the ship.
