ODDFELLOWS’ LODGE.
The annual conference of the Wanganui District of the Manchester Unity, Independent Order of Oddfellows, was held in Palmerston North recently, and was presided over by the District G.M., Bro. O. J. Rodgers. There were representatives of 12 lodges present. The review of the general position of lodges,in the district was reported to be very satisfactory. The district' showed a gain of 78 members during the year. The average amount per member disbursed in sick pay was £1 12s 6d. The report on the Salek Memorial Fund showed that, after contributing towards the dues of necessitous members of four lodges, the fund remained in a very' sound position. The deputies elected to represent the district at the Wellington B.M.C. were D.S. Bro. G. Wilson and D.T. Bro. G. Harris. The next year’s conference is to bo hold at Kimbollon. F.S. Bro. M. R. Eyre, Palmerston North, was awarded the District Jewel, having introduced 27 benefit members for the twelve months. Loyal Marton Lodge was awarded the Dilks Collar- for securing the highest percentage of new members. The election of officers resulted as follows:—D.G.M., P.G. Bro. F. J.' Wilson (Wanganui); D. P.G. Bro. M. G. Nye (Foxton) ; management committee, P.G. Bro. S. Cowley (Wanganui), P.P.G.M. Bro. 11. J. Fowler (Marton), P.P.G.M. Bro. E. A. Garlick (Manchester), F.S. Bro. M. R. Eyre (Manawatu), P.G. Bro. E. Beard (K.iinbolton), P.G. Bro. A 11. Rose (Raetihi), and P.G. Bro. W. Hogan (Apiti).
