EGYPT’S NEW ARMY.

MECHANISATION PROPOSED. It is reported from Cairo that Major-General J. H. Marshall-Corn-wall, head of the British military mission, has recommended the complete mechanisation and reorganisation ot one Egyptian division in the course of three years. Major-General A. C! Jemperley, commenting in the Daily Telegraph, says: “The recommendation is clearly sound, especially in view of the large number of strategical roa * s which will lie built under ttie AngloEgvp tian Treaty. “Tanks are not recommended, on the ground that they have been round to lie unsuitable in the Western desert. However, all my information suggests tnat the right kind of tank would lie extremely useful and that a desert is almost ideal lor tank action.”
