MILK IN SCHOOLS.

DOMINION SCHEME. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 20. Hon. P. Fraser stated to-da,y that good progress was being made in the instituting of the nnlk in schools scheme. It would not be possible to have all the districts catered for at the commencement of the the school year, but the arrangements were nearly completed for a start to be made in the Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin metropolitan areas early in March as the first stage of the national plan. The second section comprises a group of thirtythree of the larger boroughs, and in these cases the Mayors have been invited to convene local committees to be entrusted with the organisation and details. A third group comprises all the remaining areas, and in these the school committees are being invited to initiate the scheme. SCHEME FOR SOUTH. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Feb. 20. The scheme to provide free milk daily to primary school children in Dunedin and suburbs comes into operation on March 8 as part of the Government's Dominion scheme, which will ultimately cost £IBO,OOO annually. The local committee last night recommended the Government to accept the Taieri Peninsula Co’s tender to supply milk in sealed half-pint bottles with straws.
