REDUCED BUDGET
JAPANESE REVISION. REASSURING ANNOUNCEMENT. CONFIDENCE RESTORED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Times Cables.) Received February 13, 11. So a.m. LONDON. Fob. 12. The Times Tokio correspondent says Cabinet has approved of the revised Budget totalling 2769 million yen, which is 460 millions more than last year, but a saving of 270 millions as compared with the previous Cabinet’s Budget. The army and navy have each reduced their demands by twenty-three millions and the Home Office has cut off 162 millions, chiefly sacrificing the proposed grants for rural relief, which is likely to be vigorously criticised. Whether the retrenchment is due to the contention that rising prices foster social unrest or the widespread unpopularity which the army encountered in the recent crisis, it reassures commercial circles and ensures public confidence in the Government.
