BULLS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Feb. 2. A public meeting was held in Bulls recently to consider the possibility of raising funds for the erection of a ladies’ rest room and Phmkct rooms. Mr J. E. Walker, chairman of the Town Board, presided. The chairman explained that it had been suggested to add the necessary accommodation at the rear of the public library. A sketch plan of the suggested additions was submitted to the meeting. Rev. B. R. White, on behalf of the Anglican vestry, wrote offering the site of the Anglican schoolroom, at a price to be arranged. Miss Cook, of Marton, said that for the work of the Plunkct nurse it was necessary to provide a sunny room; nicely papered, if possible; and a separate room to ensure privacy. Marton, Miss Cook said, had raised £1648 in six weeks for its scheme, which had been fostered by the Borough Council, and the building was erected on the council’s property. A clonal clinic was included in the Marton building. A caretaker, whose wages were paid proportionately by all the bodies interested, looked after the rooms. The Dominion council of the Plunket Society, Mies Cook added, desired to see ail plans for . proposed buildings for the Plunkct Society’s use. Mr Jurgens spoke unofficially' in the interests of those people anxious to have the dental clinic scheme extenedd to Bulls. Though nothing had vet been arranged, ha thought that if a visiting nurse was available it might be possible for them to work in with the scheme proposed. Another suggestion was that ail application for assistance might he made lo the Macarthy Trust. Mr IT. Holland proposed that th® necessary rooms bo built at the rear of the library, the present reading room being vacated for the nurse’s use. —After a discussion, it was decided to bold the matter ovcrmeanwhile. Mr F. A. Holland moved that a canvass be made of the district within the following boundaries: South to Freeklington’rs Line; east to Greatford railway station; to Pukepapa Road, and down to Scott’s Ferry. I-ocal societies will bo approached for donations and assistance also. Air C. W. Farrer seconded the motion, which was carried. The following officials were elected: General committee, Messrs IT. IT. Holland. F. C. Jurgens, and A. T. J. Shaw, and Mcedamcs Shaw, E. V. Wilson, K. A. Holland, Farrer, Mansell, sent’., L. V. Homes and H. Mends; Town Board’s representatives. Ornrs F. A. Holland, A. W. Atnon and J. E. Walker; lion, secretary, Mr G. W. Farrer; lion, treasurer, Mr F. Cults, senr. Mr Walker was appointed ehairamn of the movement. The Women’s Institute is to be invited to appoint representatives.
