HOSPITAL STAFFING.
COMMENT AT DUNEDIN. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Jan. 29. Strong exception was taken last night by Mr Dove, the chairman of the Hospital Board, to the statement of Sir Newton Allen at the recent College of Surgeons’ conference that appointments to the professional stans of New Zealand hospitals were made solely by lay boa, 'a', who were unable to judge the applicants’, qualifications. Air Dove state dthat in Dunedin the applications were first placed before the honorary medical staff and theu considered by a committee including representatives of the University Council and the Hospital Board., Professor Gordon Bell (Professor ot Surgery), Dr. Carnialt Jones (Professor of Medicine), Dr. Dawson (Professor of Gynaecology), and Dr. Carswell (head of the ohpthalmic department): Mr Dove stated that if the system elsewhere was as represented by Sir Newton the Otago Board entirely dissociated itself from such.
