TENNIS SURPRISE.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 28. In the semi-finals of the Auckland tennis championships in the ladies’ singles, Aliss Margaret Beverley, the 18-year-old Alatamata player, eliminated Aliss Dulcie Nicholas, also a New Zealand title-holder, in three sets. Aliss Beverley outplayed her opponent, leading 5 —2 in the first set. She was attacked with nerves, hut thereafter recovered, winning tlie next two sets.
