INCIDENT IN BANK.
CASE AGAIN ADJOURNED. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Jan. 25. A further adjournment until Thursday was granted by Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., this morning in the case arising from the bank shooting on December 27 resulting in the death of Michael Fletcher. Mr H. Macalister (for the Crown) asked for a remand until a suitable date.
Mr Eustace Russell asked that the case be adjourned until Friday week as a medical witness was absent on holiday. He only had one holiday a year and it would scarcely be fair to bring him back. The Magistrate said he himself had only a holiday once in 20 months and had returned from the North Island specially for the case in view of the SOS in the newspapers. It was only a hop, step, and jump from Queenstown, and the doctor could easily come down for a day. He refused counsel’s request for a lengthy adjournment and set the hearing down for Thursday.
