GIFT EVENING.

A gift evening was held on Saturday in the Tc Arakura Hall to honour Miss Molly Firth, whoso marriage to Mr Frank Pago, of Dargaville, is to take place this week in Feilding. There was a large gathering of local residents and several visitors were present from the surrounding districts. The stage was artistically decorated with perennial phlox, pink dahlias, and greenery. The time passed all too quickly with games, competitions and dances. The winners of the competitions wore Mr and Mrs R Bennett, Miss Caldcr, and Miss Johansen. Mr L. E. Hansen proved a most efficient M.C., and the music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs Johnston, Miss H. Bennett, and Messrs R. Sullivan, D. Lewer, and P. Collins. At an appropriate stage, Mr J. J. Hume, on behalf of the residents, ' visitors and young people of the district, wished Miss L irth and M r Pago every success and happiness in their married life. He statod that Miss Firth, who had resided in Tc Arakura for several years, would be missed, both from a social point of view and from tire local Sunday school, where she had taken a very keen interest and had boon a teacher over since its formation. Mr Hume also expressed deepest sympathy with Mr and Mrs Firth and Miss Firth in the very sad misfortune they had recently experienced in the complete loss of their home and its contents by fire. Mr Hume concluded by asking the honoured guests to accept the bountiful basket of gifts which had been brought. Mr Page, on behalf of Miss Firth and himself, thanked ail present for their very generous gifts and good wishes, and the warm welcome they had extended to him. Musical hon.-mrs were then rendered. Miss Firth was presented with a basket of pansies by Dorothy Kendrick. An excellent supper, provided by the ladies, was handed round.—Te Arakura correspondent.
