SERIOUS EPIDEMIC.
INFLUENZA IN AMERICA. NEW YORK, Dec. 29. The possibility of the United States facing the worst influenza and pneumonia epidemic since 1918 is seen by health authorities, who have issued warnings advising precautions. At Chicago 310 cases have been reported within 48 hours. Of this total 66 arc suffering from influenza. New York reported an increase in cases, but there the position has not reached the epidemic stage.
