PLUNKET SHIELD.
WIN FOR WELLINGTON. gallichanWats WELL. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. Wellington w'on its first Plunket Shield cricket match of the season today, beating Otago by 107 runs on the first innings. Rain prevented play on the first and third days of the game which thus became a two-day fixture. It was marked by low scoring throughout. On the first day Wellington made 249 and Otago lost four wickets for 93. To-day the remaining six wickets fell for 49 before lunch, Otago making only 142. Wellington lost seven wickets for 125 runs before declaring in an effort to force an outright win. Otago, after losing five for 57 quickly, played out time, making 127 for seven wickets.
