WOMEN COMMONERS.

PROBLEM OF DRESS. Members ol the House of Commons, in a late-minute rush, are seeking accommodation at Westminster Abbey for the Coronation. This has resulted in more than 500 -applications, but there is still plenty of room, 1000 seats having been allocated to enable members of Parliament to take their wives. A problem has arisen over the dress which will be worn by women members of the House of Commons, for whom there has not been any at previous Coronations. It has been suggested that they should wear a special costume, designed to distinguish them from the wives of members.

Mrs Tate, the only married member, will be permitted to take her husband. The six unmarried women members will not be allowed male escorts.
