FEILDING COMPETITION. STEPHENS BATS WELL. Good cricket was witnessed at Kowhai Park on Saturday afternoon, when Public Service in ITieir first innings made 176, while their opponents, Feilding, opened their hatting with 71 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Stephens was the best scorer for Public Service, making 60 runs before being caught by Fitzpatrick off Dunn. Sinclair with 39 runs was second best for Public Service, but he was bowled by Dunn when his prospects looked bright. Barltrop succumbed to Carter when he had 18 runs to his credit, and Packer was caught and bowled by Carter for a total of 17 runs.

Replying, Feilding were unlucky to have Fitzpatrick run out for 35. He was set and much was expected of him. Carter still retains his bat with 21 to liis credit. The other senior match was between Colyton and Old Boys, and Colyton, who were first at the crease, made 147. Their opponents’ first innings has resulted in the loss of 8 wickets for 85 runs. Playing a one innings junior match at Kowhai Park, Feildiug B beat Wesley by 68 runs to 49. Feilding B, al-

though no high scores were registered, were consistent and with one exception ail the batsmen contributed to the score. Wesley were unlucky in that Pask, Wells, P. Packer, P. Bramwell, undo R. Lee were all dismissed before they had opened their scoring accounts. Feilding B bowlers were Barney, 2 for 8; Gibbs, 2 for 12; Garliek, 1 for 5; Reid, 3 for 7; Matson, 1 for 9; Dewe, 1 for 1.
