NEW FLYING-BOATS.

HIGHLY EFFICIENT CRAFT. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Dec. 17. Two of tho flying-boats of the Empire fleet being built by the Short Company for Imperial Airways are intended for long-range experiments. The first of these craft is now at Southampton being prepared for long-dis-tance trials.

It is equipped with a fuel tank of 2320 gallons capacity and, at a cruising speed of 160 miles an hour, the attainable range in still air is 3300 miles. The crew number three, and the commercial load co'nsists of 10001 b of mails. There is no passenger accommodation. This craft differs from the standard boats in the new fleet by being laden to an all up weight of 45,0001bs as against 40,5001hs of the standard craft.
