DARGAVILLE, Dec. 18. Arising from the resignation of Mr Raymond Gibson at a meeting of the Dargaville Borough Council last month following allegations of partiality on the part of tho rating committee, of which he was a member, and his reejection this week, a number of motions were tabled at a meeting of the council last evening, and three and u half hours elapsed before the last had been dealt with, the council rising at one o’clock this morning. The resolutions carried included one that the council was of the opinion that complaints by certain legal firms ns to partiality on the part of the council were without foundation and that the firms bo written to with a request to withdraw them.
The action of the rating committee in matters brought before the council by a deputation was confirmed, and the Mayor was asked to withdraw any remarks he had made imputing impropriety on the part of Cr Gibson as a member of the rating committee or council. A further resolution that the action of the Mayor in writing to G’r Gibson his official letter of December 3 had the strong disapproval of the council was, however, defeated. Several members refrained from voting on any of the motions except the last one.
