ASHHURST.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, Dec. 9. Sunday evening’s service at the Methodist Church was taken by Air Woodfield, of I’almerston North. His address was very interesting, the subject being “Let Your Light so Shine.” This was illustratea by showing different ways of providing light. The children were much interested, this being the anniversary of the Sunday school. Anthems and hymns were rendered by the scholars. On Monday evening ft tea was provided for the children, after which all gathered in the church when the children gavo an enjoyable entortaiiiiiicnt, the items being as follow : —Recitation, Joan Barclay; song, Mary Tait; recitation. Robert Currie; duet, Jean Tunnicliffc and Joan Barclay; recitation, Nola Tretnewan; dialogue. Betty Young and Mary Tait, and Joan HyUnman; recitation. Joan Tunnicliffc; recitation,. Jean and Janet Currie; duct, Nola Nicol and Glen Cawood; recitation, James Templeton; recitation, Nola Nicoi. Little Joan Mclntyre, the voungest member of the Sunday school, recited and was well received and much enjoyed. The prizes for the year s work and attendance were presented by Rev. C. A. Boston; a special prize was given by Mrs A. Currie to the best behaved child during the services on Sunday and was awarded to Joan Aide lyre. ■ Tho Tennis Club recently bold a tournament, keen interest being taken in the games. In the women’s section Miss Lois Tromcwan proved the winner, and in the men’s Mr J. Borrett.
