CENTRAL SCHOOL DANCE.
END OF SEASON. The final dance of the season of the Central School Committee was held on Tuesday night, when a very large attendance spent a particularly happy time. The function took the form of a gala night, and streamers, squeakers, and -other novelties added to the fun. The Competitions conducted at the recent gala day were drawn in the presence of the patrons. Old-time dancing was enjoyed to excellent music, the floor heing in good order. Messrs W. H. Brown and D. Buick carried out the duties of M.C.'s. The success of the function was a tribute to the ladies' committee who, throughout the season, have worked very willingly behind the .scenes. The committee was headed by the capable chairwoman, Mrs I). Evans, and the secretary, Mrs G. H. Jarrctt, other members being Mesdames I. Drake, W. J. Fitzgerald, W. Lnndy, G. Farrar, J. Denham, O. Dunstan, J. H. Cribb, A. G. Britton, G. Shelley, and W. B. Bodell. Mrs A. F. Ivcrslake, a noneonimittee mem' ". was also a helper. Messrs G. Farrar and W. Garden were door stewards, and Messrs F. Hearsey and W. J. Fitzgerald, members of the men's committee, also assisted, as well as Mr D. Evans. Prize-winners were Mis- Fitzgerald and Mr L. Carr (Monte Carlo)," Miss Ladyman and Mr Evans (Gay Gordons). Mr and Mrs J. Barsnnti, from the Terrace End School Committee, were among those present. It was announced that next season the dances will be held once a fortnight on the alternative Tuesday to the West End dance, and that only old-time dancing will be indulged in.
