The experiment of the cross with Zebu cuttle now being carried out in the central district of Queensland is reported to bo giving satisfaction to those who made the venture. Tt is stated that it will take another year or two to allow' the progeny to reach maturity and the beef to be placed on tho English market. It i.s claimed that previous experience indicated that the progeny mature' earlier than any other breed or cross, so it will be possible for the beel to reach the market months in advance of other types. Other factors in favour of the cross are that it is not so susceptible to diseases and tick infestation, and that it is a better “doer” in times of drought. The Zebu cross animal, it is stated, never loses the wild or natural instinct.
