PERSONAL.
Mr H. W. Morgan, S.M.. of the West Coast circuit, will succeed Mr C. R. Orr-Walker, S.M., who will leave Timaru shortly to take up his magisterial duties at Auckland.
Rev. T. Fielden Taylor, Wellington City Missioner, whose health has been causing anxiety for some months, has been readmitted to a private hospital. Late last night the hospital authorities reported Mr Taylor’s condition as being fairly serious. Mr Thomas Meachen, father of Mr E. P. Meachen, M.P. for Wairau, died at his home at Waltham, Christchurch, recently. He was formerly in the service of the Railway Department, from which he retired in 1915. For a time he was locomotive foreman at Palmerston North.
The death has occurred at his residence. at Miramar, of Mr John Brodie. who for nearly half a century was a well-respected citizen of Wellington. He was horn in Hokitika in 1866. After leaving Wanganui he resided for some time in Palmerston North, where he was associated with the volunteer movement (with the rank of lieutenant).
