At tho Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening, advice was received trom the Public Works Department that the Main Highways J3oard had decided to find the full cost of maintenance charges for the Shannon borough section of the No. 60 highway. It v,as reso.vod to donate £1 Is to tho New Zealand Kennel Club towards assisting in the work of finding a cheap and efficient method of immunising dogs from distemper. . Hit Shannon Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was granted permission to hold evening sports on the Domain and its offer of 10 per cent, of gross takings was accepted. Arrangements were nnulii to have the grass on (he streets cut with the horse mower and attention is to bo given to noxious weeds in the borough. Harding will regret to hear that .she is rather seriously ill in tho Palmerston North Hospital, and all will wish her a speedy recovery. Mr D. S. Boyd, of the Bank of New Zealand staff, is on annual leave which lie is spending in Pahiatua. Mrs A. 11. Morgan is in Palmerston North for tho croquet tournament. Mrs 11. Easton lias returned home after a month’s holiday spent with friends in Taumarunui.
