HOUSING SURVEY
REGULATIONS ISSUED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Pec. 3. The housing survey regulations issued to-night provide that every local authority which desires to make a housing survey of a defined area within its distinct to the exclusion of other areas shall, not later than January 15 or not later than one month after the Act has been applied to the local authority, make application to the Minister for approval of the proposed defined area. The Minister may in his discretion refuse approval or, before granting it, require the local authority to make such alterations to the boundaries as lie directs. livery housing survey shall contain particulars as to the condition regarding the employment of the occupier of every dwelling unit included in the survey, reasons for the occupier living in any particular locality in the district in preference to any locality in it, and the unimproved value and the value of improvements of the premises comprising every dwcllinghouse included in the survey. The local authority must also prepare a housing survey statement, showing the position as disclosed by the housing survey. By means of coloured maps the local authority must show dwellinghouses which are overcrowded, dwellinghouses which should he demolished on account of deterioration, dwellinghouses which have deteriorated but can be renovated at reasonable expense, and dwellinghouses which are satisfactory. The statement and map must he submitted to the Minister before July 31, 1937, or on a day the Minister may nofitv to the local authority if the Act is applied to that authority.
