LAMB MARKET STEADY. BEEF PEICES IMPROVE. The lamb market remains steady, with prices unchanged for small remaining stocks of old season's. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes meeting with good demand, with prices firmer. Beef market: Frozen beef pricos a shade higher. Chilled beef prices better this week owing to lighter supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Consumption better, with higher prices. New Zealand baconer pigs: Nominal. The above weekly report Las been received by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the approximate average prices realised for the wfck, hfised on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods offerirg during the week, being for business on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex London stores. The Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week:—The market for wethers is firm. The demand for ewes is improving, but prices are practically unchanged. The market is 'veil supplied. The demand for lamb is moderate; there is a weaker tendency owing to larger supplies arriving. Smaller supplies of chilled beef have caused prices to harden. Wethers light, 4|d to oid per lb; heavy, 3|d to 4id.
