“GATE-CRASHERS.”
DETECTIVES IN MAYFAIB. Private detectives are being employed by Mayfair (London) hostesses, who have found all other methods useless, to exclude “gate-crashers” from their parties. Scores of young men and women of good social position are declared to think it a joke to bluff their way into other people’s parties, especially for a wager. At a recent party given by the Marchioness of Headfort, at Oddenino’s, Mr C. E. Leach, a former Scotland Yard officer, was among the guests. When Mr Loach discovers “gate-crashers” he politely tells them to leave.
