APPEARANCE IN COURT
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 27. Muriel May Calderwood, aged 18, who was recently thrashed by her father in Queen Street, pleaded guilty to-day to a charge of being idle and disorderly. The police said that after her parents had reported her to be missing from home, the police noticed her occasionally in the vicinity of the wharves until the early ' morning hours, and in undesirable company. Since the thrashing incident she had been in a Salvation Army home. An official from the home said the girl had since been well behaved. Her father, wanted her to _ return home, but witness did not think this desirable. Mr Aekins (for the girl) said that she and her .father had settled their differences; the latter was prepared to take her to New Plymouth for a a new start. Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., ordered accused to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months; she is meanwhile to remain in the Salvation Army home, and if she is well-behaved no more will be heard of the case.
