Y.M.C.A. BOYS’ CAMP.

Camp Pohangina, probably the best known boys’ camp in the Wellington district, is organised by the local Y.M.C.A. Provided the leadership, supervision, and programme are right, there is no finer place where a boy can learn, life’s lessioris than in a highgrade camp. Leadership is more important than method; personality than equipment. Life is in real progress here at every turn. With leaders who understand boy life, and who are firm yet sympathetic, boys are inspired towards the best things in life. At Pohangina a boy learns to live with others, to gife and take, to fend for himself, and to be self-reliant. He also learns the value of discipline, and many other lessons, through his contact with team events of all descriptions. That parents are beginning to realise the value of this camp for boys is shown by the steady increase in enrolments since the camp opened at the present site in 1927. The first camp had a total of 30 boys enrolled; this number increasing each year until the peak w r as reached in 1935 with a total of 91 boys in camp; an increase of 300 per cent over eight years being shown. Provision is being made for a record camp for the coming Christmas vacation; extra accommodation is being provided, and every available space is expected to be occupied.
