SECRETARY HONOURED. Branch delegates of the Manawatu Labour Representation Committee and friends, with prominent members of the farming, business and commercial communities, met at Levin, this week, to do honour to the national secretary (Air D. Wilson), the president, Mr 11. E. Downes (Foxton) being in the chair. The following branches were represented: Awahuri, Bulls, Sanson, Oroua Downs, ltongotea, Manawatu Heads, Foxton, Tangimoana, Shannon, Moutoa, Tokomaru, Mangore, Hokio and Levin; also affiliated industrial unions, together with Mr C. L. Hunter, ALP., and Air W. H. Oliver, area officer, Feilding. The president, in introducing the national secretary, spoke of his untiring efforts to assist in consolidating Labour throughout the country, and the wonderful achievement attained by increased affiliations and membership. The national secretary, in reply, dealt with the advanced legislation enacted by the Labour Government; also legislation of national importance about to be introduced. The application of the administration to Government legislation would be attended to by members of Parliament during the recess. It became the duty of all persons to see that the legislation passed by Parliament was being given effect to, he said.
