MUNICIPAL BAND.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The November meeting of the general committee of the Feilding Municipal Band was held last evening, when the following members were present: Msesrs T. Collins (chairman), C. H. Tate (secretary), C. Simmons, P. P. Stevens, P. G. Guy, H. F. Kent, 0. Scotney, W. H. Clayton. The terms of the new musicians’ award were discussed at length, and it was decided to forward a remit to the Brass 'Bands’ Association: “That brass bands be exempted from the terms of the musicians’ award.” Regarding the terms of the new award, which in effect precludes brass bands from playing at race meetings in an honorary capacity, the secretary reported that ho had ascertained the position, and as far as he could gather the award, as yet, did not extend to this district and accordingly the Municipal Band will render a programme at the Feilding races to-morrow and on Monday, as has been the practice in past years, but in an entirely voluntary capacity. A sub-committee reported that, in connection, with the proposed production of “The Messiah,” difficulty had been experienced regarding soloists, and in view of the uncertainty prevailing it was thought advisable to abandon the production as far as the band was concerned. Motions of sympathy with the relatives of the late Bandsmen Heald and Harrison were recorded. Accounts amounting to £l4 13s 4d were passed for payment.
