FIXED PETROL PRICES.

PALMERSTON NORTH REQUEST. WELLINGTON, Nov. 25. A large deputation comprising the petrol re-sellers of Palmerston North interviewed Hon. D. G. Sullivan (Minister of Industries and Commerce), this afternoon, with a request that he should take action to fix the minimum retail prices of petrol in Palmerston North. The system has been adopted in Auckland and Wellington, and it was urged by the deputation, which wa6 introduced by Mr J. Hodgens, M.P., that this would prevent serious undercutting by certain wholesale firms who sell to private consumers. The price current in Palmerston North is 2s per gallon, and the deputation did not desire this to be raised, but that it should be made uniform. The Minister’s decision will be made after,, consideration of the representations. The secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce (Mr L. J. Schmitt) was present at the discussion.
