SCHOOL ATHLETICS.

FEILDING ASSOCIATION. HR S. C. AMADIO EULOGISED. The annual meeting of the Feilding and District Public Schools’ Amateur Athletic Association was held last ■evening, Mr T. Donaldson being in the chair. There was a good representative attendance. The report stated: “The executive has much pleasure in again reporting a most successful season. The year ended with a total of 155 members as compared with 112 in 1935. This is most satisfactory and shows increased interest by members of the public. The 16th annual sports were a most pronounced success. The standard of sportsmanship was, as always, excellent. The secretary (Mr D. Minogue) has, since the last meeting, been transferred. It was largely due to the excellent organisation that the sports were such a pronounced success. The thanks of the association are due to all who materially helped towards our success.”

The chairman paid a tribute to the work done by Mr Minogue, who had taken over the secretarial duties oil very short notice and had been largely responsible for the smooth running of the organisation. The balance-sheet revealed that the credit balance had been improved by £7 during the year, and the total credit balance in hand stood at £l9 11s (3d. *

Commenting on the position of the finances, Mr Robertshaw , stated that the improvement was attributable to tlie fact that'the association had paid out 9d per point instead of Is per point as previously. AViitli approximately £2O in hand, the association was iii a sound financial position, and the speaker said it would rest with the new council whether the old figure of Is per point would be reverted to this year. The report , and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr S. C. Amadio wrote resigning his position as starter, and also asking to be relieved of office as a member of the committee. The writer stated that he had held the offices referred to for some 16 years and he wished to resign in favour of a younger man, owing to indifferent health. Mr Robertshaw moved that Mr Amadio be made a life member of the

association. Mr Amadio had given wonderful service since the inception of the association.

Mr McCorkindale, seconding the motion, referred to the yeoman work of Mr Amadio and stated that the association had been very fortunate in having a starter with such wide knowledge as that possessed by Mr Amadio. Supporting the resolution, Mr Lange said that Air Amadio had performed his duties efficiently at every sports meeting held. He ventured to say that Air Amadio was the best starter in the North Island. Health reasons had been given for his resignation and the speaker expressed sincere regret that Air Amadio was unable to continue in office. Air Fitzpatrick also spoke regarding the services rendered by Air Amadio and stated that he had been most enthusiastic from the inauguration of the association. Air Amadio was an organiser within the organisation; lie had been able to work amicably with members of the association, the teachers and the children. The resolution was carried unanimously. , Four new members of the association were enrolled: Afessrs F. H. P. Rogers, A. Wither, F. Thomas and E. J. Wilson .
