FOXTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Nov. 24. At the usual ’ fortnightly meeting of the U.A.0.D., A.D. Bro. A. Thomson presided and visitors were present from Oroua , and Acorn Lodges (Palmerston Nortli),i Levin, Otaki, Paraparaumu and Lind Lodge (Tokomaru). Two P.A. collars and diplomas were presented to P.A. Bro. H. Podmoie and P.A. Bro. R. Read by Bro. McKnight. At tho conclusion a meeting of the R.A.C. was held when three new members were initiated. Tho following oiliceis wore installed: R.A.D., Bro. E. Tilcombe; R.V.A., Bro. McKniglit; R.G., Bro. Swentoff; R.A.8., Bro. Taylor; R.A.8., Bro. Young; R.V.B.’s, Bro. and Sister Fletcher; Royal secretary and treasurer, Bro. R. Read. In the Town Hail supper-room one hundred and fifty guests joined with Mr and Mrs T. Chaftey in celebrating tho twentyfirst birthday of their daughter. Miss Lila Chaffey. The evening was spent in dancing interspersed with items by Miss U. Thomson and Messrs E. Shortt, L. Stevens, and K. Radford (Wellington). A handsome birthday cake, beautifully decorated with pink icing and adorned with .a golden key and twenty-ono candles, was wheeled into tho centre of the room and Miss Chafley was congratulated upon attaining her majority by Mr A. Vertongen, who, on behalf of the guests, handed her the autographed key.
