YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES.

Interest in tha Wellington slock an<l share markets yesterday again centred mainly on the Woolworths’ issues. .Recorded sales covered 30 parcels totalling 2275 shares, of which Woolworths accounted for 15 parcels numbering 875 shares. Total sales of chain stovo issues, including Woolworths, accounted for 1225 shares. Woolworths (N.Z.) sold at £6 16s 6d, and the West Australian at £6 15s 6d. The Sydney shares wero very active, 13 parcels totalling 725 shares changing hands at prices ranging from £7 3s up to £B. .At 1 his time last month they wero selling at from £5 17s 6d to £5 18s 6d. G. J. Lotus lirmed yesterday to 795, and Edments sold at 55s 3d. Other sections of tho market were on (he quiet side. Commercial Bank of Australia were firmer at, 19s 4d, sellers 19s 6d. National Bank of Australasia, £5 paid, advanced to business at £7 15s. and the £lO paid were wanted at £ls. Union Bank moved up strongly, buyers offering £lO 4s and sellers asking £lO Bs. Insurance issues showed an easier tendency. P. and O. deferred 6tock, on which a 4 por cent, dividend is being paid for the first time for sevornl years, advanced to 365, no sellers.
