On Wednesday evening, l after tli* distribution ot j>r;zes to -the Baptist Sunday school scholars ‘at the Sunday School anniversary concert, the opportunity was taken by. the secretary of the'Northern branch Sunday school, of expressing appreciation to Miss D. Perry (who through, circumstances lias rad to resign) for the long and faithful service rendered by her in the ,vork of the Sunday School.' Miss Perry .or many years -was a teacher in the main Sunday school; some five years ago she saw the need for- a Sunday school at the northern side of the' city, arid started a class in'a room of a. private house., As time went on and the numbers increased, the,-class moved into an empty'shop on-the Rangitikei Line. This also proved to be too small, and the result • jvais- tlirit' the officers and members of the Baptist . Church decided to/ purchase . at. section and build a school; The, Church. .now has a well-equipped Sunday schopl, with sufficient room- to build a 'churcli when the opportune time arrives;' The school . secretary asked Mies Perry to accept a very .Ji ice. purse as a small gilt in appreciation -of the valuable 'service, rendered by her. Miss Perry, in responding, stated that she had felt the need of a,Sunday school with some one to teach tlie-c-hiklfen in the northern -part, of the city, and was plep.sed to see -how -the work- had increased. She thanked the superintendents and tea'ohere for their, beautiful gift and also ior tho words of apprcciation expressed.
