BRITISH ARMY
RECRUITING RESPONSE
Received November 20, 10.5 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 19,
Following a cryptic statement by the Earl of Stanhope, in the House. of Lords, that the voluntary system of recruiting was in grave danger, Mr A. Duff-Cooper (Secretary of State for War), in .a speech at a recruiting luncheon, said that unless there was a great improvement in the response the recruiting system would soon break down. He hoped to remedy the lack of attractions, chiefly ensuring the soldiers jobs after their discharge.
