NEW BATTLESHIPS.

BIG ARMOUR-PLATE ORDER. LONDON, Oct. 26. The Government is placing orders for 20,000 tons of armour plate, required for the two battleships which will he laid down in January. The Sheffield district mainly will benefit. The sum involved is £6,000,000. These ships will be the most heavily plated cm r built for the Navy. Big ordinance orders also are pending.
