(British Official Wireless. ) Received October 8, 11.8 a.in. RUGBY, Oct. 27. Vice-Admiral Sir Charles Little, Coni ilia nder-i n-Chief of the China Station, has postponed the arrangements for a visit to Japanese waters on October 7. An incident occurred in Keeiung; in Formosa, in which three British naval ratings were subjected to ill-treatment by the Japanese police. A dispute occurred regarding the payment of a taxi-cab fare, and although there was good evidence to show that the fare had been paid, as the result of an altercation, tlfc three British sailors were taken to the police station. While under detention they were injured, one of them having his jaw fractured. A British naval officer who intervened on their behalf was insulted by the Japanese police.

The British Government is in communication with the Japanese Government on the subject of the reparations to be made for this incident.
