LONGBURN.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONGBURN, Oct. 24. A successful function was bold in the hall recently, when St. Chad’s Players presented the three-act comedy, “The Best People.” There was a large and appreciative audience. The production was a credit to the producers and players, the acting throughout being of a high standard. The cast was as follows : —Mrs Lennox, Miss H. Hills; Mr Lennox, Mr W. Aldcrslcy; Marion Lennox, Miss W. Chamberlain; ITenry Masters, Mr F. Hearsay; George Grafton, Mr J. Aldersley; Bertie Lennox, Mr Jack Hearsey; Alice O’Neil, Miss M. Foss; Millie Montgomery, Miss J. Campbell; Miss Tait, Mrs Martin; Lord Rockmere, Mr H. Bowler; maid, Miss J. Hodgson; waiter, Mr D. Rowland. At the conclusion of the play, Mr C. C\ Hills, on 'behalf of the audience, thnnked producers and the cast for having given such an enjoyable entertainment. He especially thanked Mrs Martin and Miss Hancock, who had put in a great deal of work. He then presented Miss Hancock with a basket of flowers in red tonings and Mrs Martin with a posy. A presentation was also made to Mr Martin and the lady members of the cast. Miss Hancock, who replied on behalf of the producers and players, thanked Mr Hills for his remarks and also the audience for the way in which they had received the play. She said that Longburn possessed some very fine talent which was well worth fostering. After supper had been handed round, tho floor was cleared for dancing, the music being supplied by a professional orchestra.
