EKETAHUNA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) EKETAHUNA, Oct. 26. A coming-of-age party was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs Kupert Robbie, when over 100 guests were present. The guests of honour were. Miss Mollie O'sen, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Olsen, llaunui, and Mr Brian Spring. Miss Olsen wore a frock of white lace, fashioned on slim fitting lines, slightly trained, and with a wide Medici collar. A spray of silver flowers on the corsage and a very wide silver brocaded belt and armlet completed tho ensemble. Mrs Kobbie received her guests in the Tiraumca Hall, wearing a jade green cellophane striped charmeuso frock with elbow-length puffed sleeves and very full skirt. Mrs J. Olsen wore a plainly cut frock of black lace. Mrs Spring was in a coin spotted brown celanoso frock. Mrs Kobbie, sent'., wore black lace. The guests wero entertained wflth humorous recitations by Mr A. Pedersen and Mr J. Parsonson rcndcrod a groujj of songs for which the accompaniments were played by Mrs Parsonson. The young people danced in the drawing room. .Music for dancing was provided by Mrs John Liverton, Messrs O. Olsen, Pickett, and G. Curtis. The two cakes were cut by Miss Olson and Mr Spring, with musical honours. Otic cake had been provided by Mrs Spring, sent 1 ., and decorated by Miss Spring; the other was the gift of Mm Kupert Kobbie. Both cakes wore decorated with gold soldier* and kewpies and gold keys. Mr H. Higgingson (Ekctalnma) proposed the toasts cf the guests of tho evening and Mr Spring suitably responded. Monster gold keys were on "view and had been autographed by all those present. The nipper was set out buffet style. Non-dancers were accommodated in the lounge. Mrs G. Curtis, Tiraumca. has returned from a holiday in Wellington. AI iss E. Ryan, of Palmerston North, is the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Ryan, Newman Road. Mrs I>. Ralcliffc, of Wellington, is staying with Nurse Berry, Parkviile. Mrs Hereock, sent-, and Mr R. Hcreock, Wellington, are the guests of Air and Mrs G. Hcrcock. Nireaha. Aliss 1). Ure, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs W. Dowsett, Newman. u Tho Tararua Rifle Club opened their 1936-37 season with a match between teams captained by the president and the vicepresident, the former proving victorious by a margin of 28 points. The victory ball held by the United Ladies’ Hockey Club in the Newman Hall was an outstanding success. Novelty dances wore won by Aliss E. Edmonds and partner and Aiiss V. Hooper and Air K. Anderson. Extra dances were played by Alessrs G. Olsen and IC. Aiarenzi. Air J. Sitter was M.C. On view during tho evening were the trophies held by the club, tho Thrupp Cup, Brown Cup, six-a-sido tourney cups, and the Bell Alcmorial Rose Bowl. The lTamua Golf Club had a most successful concluding day, when, a mixed foursome for the Byrne gold buttons was won by Mrs W’atkins and Air H. Bourke. Air j” B. Carruthers, president, thanked members for their assistance in carrying to a conclusion a most successful season. He then presented trophies for the season as follow; —Ladies: Sinclair Cup, Airs Carrutbers; runner-up, Airs R. J. Smith; eclectic cup. Mrs Sinclair and Aliases Henderson and Warner; sealed hole competition. Miss Warner; runner-up. Airs Wolland; bogey competition, rose bowl, Aliss Henderson; runner-up, Airs Carruthers; 6coro sheet competition. senior. Miss Warner; runner-up, Airs Sinclair; junior. Airs Carruthers; runner-up, Aliss Lawrence. Men: Club Cup. J- Coulter; runner-up, IT. Brookes; Sinclair Cup, \V. Watkins; run-ner-up, J. Wolland; eclectic cup (won outright), IT. G. Brookes; runner-up, G. Coulter; sealed hole competition (for captain’s trophy), J. B. Carruthers; runner-up, G. Smith. Miniature cups were presented as follow: Aliss Al. Warner (winner.
