DAIRY RESEARCH.

TRIBUTE TO PROFESSOR RIDDET

The dairy industry, through the board, has "been contributing at the rate of £6500 per annum to this important work at the Dairy Research Institute, Massey College, Palmerston North. It is likely, if funds are available, that a slightly higher contribution will be made in future. Thus states the annual report of the Dairy Produce Board. “In February of this year Professor W. Riddet proceeded on a tour to investigate dairying conditions and to make contact with dairy research workers in North America, Britain and Europe. The tour was made possible iri the first place by a grant of 2000 dollars offered by the Trustees of the Carnegie Corporation; this was supplemented by grants from the Dairy Board and the Government. The award of the grant by the Carnegie Corporation is an honour both to Professor Riddet and to the Massey Agricultural College and Dairy Researcn Institute. Tt is an indication that- Professor Riddel’s work in the field of dairying has an international standing. Such grants are made available for the purpose of promoting international understanding and goodwill, and no detailed conditions are laid down as to how they are to be spent,” the report adds.
