OBITUARY.
MU G. K. lIOOK. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, Oct. 6. Mr George Edward Hook, who passed away at the Palmerston North Hospital, on Sunday, at the age of 72 years, had been a resident of Shannon for over 40 years, where he was engaged in farming. Upon his retirement about two years ago lie took up his residence in Palmerston North. He always took a keen interest in local affairs, being a member of the lirst Borough Council. lie was also a. keen bowler and represented Shannon on many occasions. His wife predeceased him in 1931 and lie leaves a family of four sons— Harold (South Africa), Roy, Clifford, and I/eslie (Shannon) —and five daughters—Mrs R. Collins, Mrs C. Petersen, Mrs C. Cane, arid Miss R. Hook (all of Shannon) and Miss 1). Hook (Waipnkurau). The sympathy of a large circle of friends is extended to them in their loss.
SIR PERCIVAL CLAIIKE. (British Official Wireless.) Received October 6, 12.15 p.m. RUGBY, Oct. 5. Sir Percival Clarke, the chairman of the London Sessions, has died suddenly. He was aged 64.
