In the final of the fifth grade knock-out competition played at North Street Park, on Saturday, Rovers defeated Te Awe Awe, 4 —3. After the game Mr G. Houston presented the Goldfinch and Cousins Trophy (championship( to the captain of the Te Awe Awe team and the Dick Trophy (knock-out competition) to the captain of the Rovers team. The positions of the teams in the subsidiary competition are as follow : P. AY. L, D. Tl.

ENGLISH CUP MATCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 4. In tlie filial of the soccer match for the English Cup knock-out competition, Western A beat Thistle by 5 goals to nil.

Per Press Association WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. The soccer season in Wellington closed on Saturday with the replay of the Auld Cup final in which Hospital beat Waterside by 4 goals to 2 after extra time had been played. The match counted also for the championship but does not affect the result of it. The scores were 2-all at full time so that the match counted as a draw.
