SEARCH OF RESTAURANT.
COURT CASE FOLLOAVS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 2. Purchases of drink on three occasions by police officers, followed by a search of the premises occupied by a Persian garden restaurant in the city, were described when the proprietress and her husband and an employee appeared before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in. the Police Court. A total of eight charges of offences against the licensing laws was heard. . - , The restaurant was described by Sub-Inspector Scott, who prosecuted, as “a moral menace” through men taking young women to drink there. Defendants, for whom Mr l'. W. Schramm appeared, altered their pleas from not guilty to guilty after hearing tlie police evidence. . Mrs Macgregor, the proprietress, was fined £lO and her husband £IOO, and the employee, named Curry, £2.
