KING NOT WORRIED
SITUATION IN SWEDEN. While the aged King Gustav of Sweden was accepting the resignation of, and saying farewell to, the outgoing Premier, before receiving the Social Democrats, who triumphed at the elections, a clergyman burst into the audience chamber and sought to break up the proceedings. Greatly excited, the cleric shouted, “The Constitution says that only men possessing the King’s confidence may form a Cabinet!” After he had been ejected, the King went on unperturbed, and received the new Premier, who happens to be the most radical in Sweden’s history. The King is not worried by tiie complexion of the new _ Parliament, which is moderately Socialist, as his throne seems as secure as at any time during the 29 years he has occupied it. In addition, no Communist has been given office. The new Government, having won an outright majority with 118 seats, in a House of 230, does not need any longer to relv upon tjie support of the Farmers’ Party, with which it formed a coalition during the last four years.
