MIDNIGHT FIRE.

WASHHOUSE AND SHED DAMAGED.

A washhouse and a woodshed adjoining the residence of Mrs ForeterPratt, 220 Broadway, were severely damaged by fire during the night, it is not known how or exactly where the outbreak occurred, but the alarm was given at midnight by a resident in Main Street, who saw the flames which by tnen had a good hold on the sheds. The Fire Brigade were quickly on the scene and succeeded in confining the blaze to the back of the house. The escape was a very close one, however, and traces where the flames had secured a hold on the main building could be seen this morning. It is understood that the house is insured for £IOOO and the contents for £OOO.
