WEEKLY SALES. ALDINGTON VALUES. Per Press Asscciaiton. CHRISTCHURUH, Sept. 30. There was littlo change in vuiues at Addington to-day except in the fat cattle and spring lamb sections and in some classes of store sheep. Cattle improved as the result of a short entry and wether hoggets declined because of over-supply. Spring lambs were also in excess numbers, and these eased by 2s a head. Store sheep.—A heavy entry of wether hoggets, which wore weaker by Is 6d a head. Ewe hoggets were unchanged, but ewes and lambs improved by Is 6d. Best ewe hoggets sold at 31s 6d ; best wether at 23s 6d; and an outstanding line of fourtooth owes and lambs, all counted, at 245. Spring lambs. —150 were penned and eased by 2s a head. Values were from ' t 'd to lOd per lb. Fat sheep.—A heavy entry, including many southern linos, met with a good sale until near the final stages, when values weakenod by Is a head. Best wethers made 35s to 445; best medium-weights, 30s to 335; other wethers, down to 275; best ewes, 28s 6d to 36s lOd; good mediumweight, 24s to 28s; others, down to 18s. Put cattle.—A very small entry of 32b head and an improvement in values of 25s a head. Best cattle made from £l4 to £l7 17s 6d; guod medium-weights, £ll 15s to £l3 15s; light steers, to £9 10s; best, heifers, £lO to £l4; good, £8 to £1 10s; extra prime cows, £9 to £l3 17s 6d; others, down to £5. Fat pigs.—The best porker sale for some months, values being from to 7d a lb; with baconcrs at 6d to 6|d. LEVIN SALE. At the Levin sale on Tuesday, a large yarding of cattle and pigs and a small yarding of sheep were offered. Competition was good and practically a total clearance was made at the following prices: Pigs: Stores, lis to 15s 6d; light porkers, 27s to 33s 6d: porkers, 35s to 425; baconers, 46s to 49s 6d. Sheep : Fat ewes, 29s 3d; fat hoggets (small line), 25s 4d. Cattle; Extra prime Shorthorn heifers, £lO 2s 6d; prime fat cows, £7 to £7 10s; good fat cows, £5 7s 6d to £6 12s 6d; maiden hei/ers, £5 to £5 10s; runners, £4 Is; good springing heifers, £5 5s to £7. PAHIATUA VALUES. At the weekly sale held at Pahiatua a good yarding of dairy stock came forward and met with good competition. Realisations were: —Fat ewes, 2fas; springing Jersey heifers (near profit), £6, £7, £'/ 10s; late caivers, £5 10s, £5 15s; small springing heifers, £4, £4 15s; springing Jersey cows, £4 18s, ££s 10s, £6 ss; heifers in profit, to £5; yearling Jersey buds, £4 15s; small pony, £8 ss. WOODVILLE SALE. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report of the Woodville sale as under: — A good yarding of some 480 head of station-bred cattle with approximately 150 head of springing cows and heifers was submitted to a good attendance. A fair clearance was effected in the station cattle section with values at about a par with other centres, with a strong market for dairy heifers showing quality. Empty Jersey cows, suitable for the paddock attracted strong attention with values remaining very firm. Quotations: — 2 and 2-yr empty P.A. heifers, from £5, £5 10,, £6 to £6 os; small 2-yr empty Red Poll heifers, £4 10s; yearling P.A. steers, £6 to £6 2s fM; Hereford steers, just, medium size, £4 10s, £4 i4s to £5 7s; ylg. STORTFORD LODGE PRICES. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Sept, 30. Smaller vardings ill all sections came forward to-day at Stortford Lodge, when a good market prevailed throughout. The fat cattle included a larger percentage, of good prime quality medium bullocks from well-known stations. The top price was £l3, and several good entries ranged from £ll 15s to £l2 10s. Prime heifers were in short supply, best making to £9 ss. while other good linos ranged from £8 to £8 17s 6d. The cows consisted of a better percentage of good sorts. Best prime entries made to £9 7s 6d. Wellgrown good store cattle were easily quitled, young bullocks making to £9 ss; extra good yearling steers to £6 13s; good two-year-old breeding heifers to £6. The store sheep consisted chiefly of woolly wether hoggets. Values were slightly easier at the commencement of the sale, but improved as the sale progressed. Best woolly wether hoggets made 275. ewe hoggets, to 365; fat nnd forward wethers, to 28s 4d; others, to 27s 6d. Fat «li»;e|> recovered practically to peak levels, some sorts advancing to 4s a head on last week. lUukawa shorn prime four to six-tooth ewes made to 29- : best heavy woolly ewes, to 34s 6d; best wethers, to Medium-grown good-conditioned spring lambs made 32s foi the top.

WESTFIELD MARKET. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 30. Although quoted on a par with the values of the past six weeks, there was an easing tendency in beef at Westfield today, and this in spite of a shorter yarding and generally excellent quality. Extra choice ox sold to 36s per ICOlb; choice and prime, 30s to 355; secondary and plain, 25s to 31s; prime cow and heifer, 30s to 355; ordinary, 21s to 325. Extra heavy si corn mjde £l3 10.5 to £ls 10s; heavy, £l2 10s to £l4 17s 6d; lighter, £ll lOn to £l3 12s 6d; extra heavy prime cows and heifers, £9 7s 6d to £ls ss, the best since September, 1929; heavy, £8 to £lO ss. The quality all round was first class in the sheep pens, which contained a smaller number than a week ago. Ewes advanced an much as 2n a head, wethers and hoggets maintaining steady rales. Extra heavy prime woolly wethers, 40s to 43s 9d; heavy, 57s 6d to 39s 9d; medium ,33s to 37s 9d; light, 30s lo 35s 3d; heavy shorn, 30s to 33s 9d; extra heavy prime ewes, 34s 6d to 36s 6d; heavy, 32« to 34n; prime shorn, 24s to 26s 3d; extra heavy prime hoggets, 30s to 365; heavy. 30s to 31s 6d; medium, 25s to 29s 9d; heavy shorn, 22s to 28s. Pigs of medium quality were plentiful, and brisk competition kept prices firm. Choppers made £1 10s to £3 8s; heavy prime baconcrs, £3 11s to £4 6s; medium. £3 4s to £3 13s; light, £2 10s to £3 10s; heavy porkers, £2 10s to £2 17s; medium, £2 to £2 8s; light, £1 15s to £1 19s. Baconcrs averaged 6d a lb. and porkers 6-id. BURNSIDE SALE. Per I’rCi-3 Association. DUNEDIN, Sept. 30. The market for beef at Burnside to-day was considerably easier, hut mutton was a little firmer until toward the end of the sale, when vahies wore about on a par with those of a week ago. The 260 head of fat cattle yarded included a proportion of prime medium weights. Extra primeheavy bullocks made to £l7 7s 6d; prime. £l2 15s to £l4 15s; medium, £9 15s to £l2 light, down to £7 10s; extra prime cow.and heifers, to £ll 17s 6d; prime. £7 10s to £9; medium, £6 to £7 ss. There was a preponderance of wethers in tlie yarding ol fat, sheep, which maintained late values throughout. Extra prime wethers made to £2 ss; prime wethers, £1 15s to £1 18s; me diurn and light, £1 11s to £1 14s; extra prime heavy ewes, to £1 16s; prune, £1 9s to £1 13s; medium, £1 6s to £1 8s 6(1.
