TWO GREAT GALLOPS.

RANDWICK’S BEST. GOLD HOD AND MALA. SYDNEY, Sept. 29. Gold Hod's nine furlongs in 1.563 at Kandwiek this morning was the best training gallop ever recorded at Kandwiek under the conditions until Mala (\V. Cook) later in the morning ran tho distance in 1.562, assisted by Golden Treasure over the last (ive furlongs. The two great gallops occasioned much discussion. It is pointed out tliat Gold Hod was carrying a bigger weight and going comfortably away from Imbiber at the finish, whereas Mala, although holding off his companion, was not /far in front and the track was possibly faster at the time Mala was working. At Kandwiek, on the course proper, with the flags 50ft out, Gold Kod (M. MeCarten) went with Jubilee Son for the first five furlongs and Imbiber for the last four and beat both off in running nine furlongs in 1.563, the last mile in 1.434. 010 beat Kogerio over i| miles in 2.104, a good gallop. Kob Hoy again went well in defeating II Duce and Young Crusader over nine furlongs in 1.584. Gay Sheik continues to wotk well, and beat Cognac over seven furlongs in 1.30. Trainer King’s three Epsom Handicap entrant/;, Gay Blonde, Turbine, and Duke Caledon, galloped seven furlongs in 1.29. Gay Blonde was always going much better than the others, and led them home. Billy' Boy, carrying a light boy, beat Gustos over nine furlongs in 1.584. Silver Standard (Knox) beat Cuddle (McCarten) by six lengths over seven furlongs in 1.29. _ * Sylvandalc did nine furlongs in 2.0. He was joined by Cornc Abbas at the six furlongs, and they came home together, taking 1.18 for the six. The Marne did an easy seven with The Athenian in 1.334. AT ROSEBERY. At Rosebery, on the course proper, Silver Jubilee fed On l’arado over six furlongs in 1.17. Gay Lover beat Barak (who bled) and Nabob over six furlongs in 1.18. Stretto did an easy six in 1.204. Sporting Blood, going extra well, ran the last seven furlongs of 14 miles in 1.324. At Victoria Park the going was on the slow side. Silver King covered ten furlongs in 2.14, going at three-quarter pace for the first tour furlongs, which took 56seo, and doing the last six in 1.18, and the last three in 373- It was an attractive effort. CUDDLE DISAPPOINTS. , The Sun says that Mr K. J. Murphy has decided to release M. MeCarten from his Epsom Handicap engagement to ride Cuddle, whose display was disappointing to-day.. MeCarten will now ride The -Manic in the Epsom Handicap. The New Zealand colt Sigurd caught a chill on his way over from the Dominion last week, and it is doubtful whether he will run in the Breeders’ Plate at llandwick next Monday.
