NATIVE SHRUBS

INTEREST IN PRESERVATION. MINISTER’S PLEASURE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. It is the opinion of tho Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry) that greater interest than formerly is being taken by the people in tho preservation of native trees and plants. “If the spirited action which citizens are taking to-day had been taken a few years back one could imagine the picture we would now have presented along the highways and in certain areas around tho cities, but it is not the past we should worry about, but tho future, the Minister said. He quoted correspondence received by him relative to destruction and conservation, and said it was gratifying to find that parents were instilling into the minds of their children tho need for protecting native plants and trees.
