LONDON SALES. BROKERS’ REPORTS. Tho following reports on tho opening of the London wool calcs have been received by Dominion houses : Wright, Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd. —As compared with the closing rates of tho July series, slipc wool is 5 per cent, higher. Australian Merino wool is fully firm and crossbred wool 5 to per cent, higher. The gales opened bofore an average attendance of buyers, among whom competition was animated. Continental and Bradford buyers were the chief operators. An average selection of wool was offered. We quote tho following average realisations: — d. Greasy Merino, 60-64, yielding 48 per cent. ..I ... ... . ... ... 122 Greasy fine halfbred, 56-58, yielding 62 per cent. , 132 Greasy halfbred, 50-56, yielding 68 per cent. ... 11 Greasy ihrcc-quartcrbred, 48-50, yielding 74 per cent ._ 92 Greasy fine crossbred, 46-48, yielding 75 per cent ... 9i Greasy mod. crossbred, 44-46, yielding 75 per cent 9 Greasy crossbred, 40-44, yielding 76 per cent. ... ... .. ... 9 Greasy coarse crossbred, 36-40, yielding 76 per cent 8i Crossbred lambs, 46-50, yielding 74 per cent. _ 10£ Tho N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd.—There was a good attendance, competition by Home buyers being active, and the opening catalogues were representative. As compared with the last sale’s closing rates prices are about the same for Merino and £d to Id per lb higher lor crossbred. N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co.. Ltd. —Wool sales opened to-day. Good attendance and keen competition. Home and Continental buyers .operating freely. Prices, compared with close of last series (July). are: —Greasy Merino, par; scoured Merino, par to id up; fine crossbred, par to jd up; medium and coarse crossbred, jcl to 2d tip; slipes, id tip. Levin and Co., Ltd.—'The auctions opened with a large attendance of Homo and Continental buyers. There is good general competition, particularly from the Home trade. As at present arranged the sales will close on September 25. Compared with the closing rates of last, sale we quote: —Greasy Merino, best unchanged, average unchanged; fine lialfbreds, 50-56’s, id per lb higher: extra finecrossbreds, 48-50’s, id to Jd per lb higher; fine crossbreds, 46-48’s, id to Jd P er lb higher; medium crossbreds, 44-46’s, id to 2d per lb higher; coarse crossbreds, 4044’s, ill to 2d per lb higher; low crossbreds, 36-40's, id to Jd per lb higher; slipes, mediums and coarse, jvar to 5 per cent, higher; slipes, halfbred iambs, par to 5 per cent, higher. Scoured Merinos, good demand, prices firm. Bank of New South Wales.—Good and general competition. Merinos same as last sale’s close, crossbreds 5 per cent, to 7i per cent.-, slipes 5 per cent, dearer. Average or estimated prices of New Zealand greasy fleece ordinary top-making wools: Merino 60-64, 12§d; fine halfbred, 56-58, 132 d; halfbred, 50-56, lid; three-quarter-bred, 48-50, 92d; fine crossbred, 44-46, 9id; medium, 44-46, 9d; crossbred, 40-44, 9d. Bank of New Zealand (produce department). —Strong competition and large attendance of buyers. There is an active demand by Home and foreign buyers. Compared with the close of last series, prices for Merinos are unchanged; fine crossbreds, jd per lb higher: medium and coarse, £d to |d per ib higher. ANTWERP WOOL FUTURES. ANTWERP. Sept. 15. Wool futures are quiet. Quotations: October, 27id; December, 271 d; March, 27id.
The quotations on September 8 were: — October, 27jd; December. 27^d; March, 27jd. Tho prices are for 64’s tops, dry combed.
