FEILDING EIRE BOARD.
SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
The following is the quarterly report of the superintendent (Mr 0. Sporle) to be submitted to the meeting of members of the Feilding Fire Board on Thursday:—The brigade has received only two calls during the quarter, both to chimney fires, thus making the quarter clear of fire loss. The total fire loss for the half-year is £2. The plant and buildings are in good order and repair. The 500 ft. of new hose' and couplings have come to hand in good order. I would suggest the board consider the purchase of four smoke masks as recommended by Mr Girling Butcher, and would respectfully suggest the board consider the purchase of a siren to replace the bell, when arranging the estimates for next year. The present strength of the brigade is 18 and two officers. The attendance and work of the members at all musters has been very satisfactory. Many pumping tests have been made and at all tests very good pressure has been maintained. I would ask the board to accept the resignation of Mr J. Osborne and accept Mr J. Hesketh as an active member. Mr Osborne has served the board for the last eleven years and has left the district. The Borough Council has carried out the suggestions regarding the fire plugs and parking notices in Bowen and Stafford streets, and I have noted a decided improvement in the parking of cars in the vicinity of the Drill Hall.
