KINGCRAFT CHIEF WINNER. ASHHURST HORSES SCORE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. The spring meeting of tho Wellington Trotting Club woe held at Hutt Park today in cold and showery weather. There was a good attendance. The track wan soft and the totalisator handled £19,627, as against £12.228 5s last year. RACING IN DETAIL. NAI NAI TROT HANDICAP, of £130; 3.45 class. Unhoppled trotters. There was praetieally no change in positions over the next four furlongs, Franz Derby turning for home about a length and a half in front of Cracksman, with Lucky Rose and Parrish Chimes next. Dunn, Christchurch) Passing the stand at the end of six furlongs Royal Palm had an advantage of anything from twenty to twenty-five lengths, and as ho was pacing attractively he was then accepted as the winner, tho only point remaining for decision being who would fill the other dividend places. Baron Grand improved his position down the back, but he could not overhaul Ace l’ot or Great Chum, who finished second and third respectively. Racing down the straight the second time Kingcraft made a smart dash and was lying third to Avernus and Homeward with six furlongs to go. Kingcraft made another dash rounding the eastern bend and with four furlongs to go was showing the way to Avernus. Homeward, Gunfire, Francis Lincoln, Grace AicElwyn, and Willow Wave. In the run home ho was strongly challenged by Avernus, who had his head in front about twenty yards from home, but responding splendidly to vigorous driving Kingcraft made a final effort to win by a small margin from Avernus. Kraal dropped out down the back, but Lucky Rose and l’arrish Chimes improved their positions. San Aliehele’ turned for home just ahead of Franz Derby, but the latter asserted herself in the run homo, and finishing strongly won by a couple of lengths from Lucky Rose, who beat Parrish Chimes by a head.
